Bob Hesselgesser
Board Member
Bob Hesselgesser has been a board member of Golden Technology, Inc. since 2021. He is currently Lead Independent Board member (and former Chairman) of Golden Technology and also Board member and Treasurer of Golden Community Foundation.
Bob is a proven executive with over 30 years of extensive leadership roles and experience with crisis management, governance, finance, accounting, risk, and deals. He is agile and effectively operates across sectors including retail, consumer markets, automotive, services, industrial manufacturing, health, and technology. His experience is global and diverse, including both US-based multinationals and several Americas headquarters of European and Japan-based companies.
Bob retired as a partner with PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP), one of the “Big 4” consulting, audit, and tax firms, in 2020 where he advised Boards in a broad range of industries, in different points in the business lifecycle, and with varied governance and ownership models. He served as the consulting, audit, or relationship partner on several of the Firm’s most significant clients, ranging from Fortune 20 to private-equity portfolio companies, start-ups and family businesses. Bob has led external audits and also brings deep Crisis Management, Governance and Risk Consulting experience. Bob has a long view and develops deep business partner relationships to deliver a strategic view across functions to get ahead of critical issues (“looking around the corner”).
He was most recently PwC’s Deals Risk and Regulatory leader for the Southeast and for distressed entities nationally. Bob spent over two years in the National Professional Services Group consulting with companies and engagement teams globally on business combinations, impairments, restructurings, and stock compensation. He led the Tennessee risk consulting business for four years, as well as the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana accounting advisory and valuation services business for two years. Bob is a frequent speaker/lecturer for corporate events and industry groups. After living and working in six different cities, Bob retired from PwC in 2020.
Bob’s experience with global M&A deals spans the business lifecycle including high-growth entities raising capital, IPO readiness, acquisitions, divestitures, and distressed entities (bankruptcy and reorganization). Extensive experience with private equity firms and their portfolio companies enhances his knowledge and ability to manage their unique requirements. He has also worked with numerous spin-offs and carve-out entities to set up standalone corporate functions.
Bob has a passion for mission-based organizations and has served on many Boards over three decades. During his 15-year Board service with Cincinnati Early Learning Centers, Inc., he was a member of the Executive Committee, Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee, and Treasurer.
Bob is an investor/member of the Queen City Angels (Angel Capital) where he also mentors early-stage companies and assesses for potential investment.
Bob is a member of the Private Director's Association where he is a member of the Private Equity Committee and one of the authors of the Private Equity Portfolio Company Governance course.
Bob holds a Master of Professional Accountancy and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with distinction, from the University of Nebraska and studied economics at Oxford University. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Ohio and Nebraska.
